The village of Basivka is located 50 kilometers northeast of Sumy on the Ukrainian-Russian border, next to the H-07 highway and the border crossing "Yunakivka - Sudzha".
It was first mentioned in 1662. In 1722, Basivka became the property of Mykhaylo Kondratyev, then it passed to Ivan Lyzohub, and from 1753 it belonged to the Dubyanskyi landowners.
In 1912, a unique temple of the Kazanska Mother of God was built in honor of those who died in the Russo-Japanese War at Port Arthur, which has reached the ruins up to now (restoration is underway).
Kazan Mother of God Church
Temple , Architecture
The Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God was founded in Basivka in 1906 in honor of those killed in the Russo-Japanese War. In 1912, the Kazan Church was consecrated.
The interior was decorated with frescoes dedicated to the memory of the residents of Basivka, who died at Port Arthur, in Manchuria, on ships of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Pacific squadrons. Also in the interior was an image of the Holy Trinity - a copy of the painting of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.
Now the temple is in a dilapidated state.
