Kovel district (Kovelskyi) is located in the central and western part of Volyn region, on the historical and ethnographic territory of Volyn Polissya. The region borders simultaneously with Poland and Belarus. The Western Buh border river flows along the western border of the district, and the Pripyat river flows in the north of the district.
The Shatsky Lakes National Nature Park and the Kolodiazhne Lesya Ukrainka Literary Memorial Museum are located here.
The administrative center of Kovelskyi district is the city of Kovel. The area of the district is almost 7650 square kilometers. The population of the district reaches 271 thousand people.
