Slavutych

Slavutych is the youngest city in Ukraine, built in 1987 to service the Chornobyl NPP accident.

Administratively, it is a city of regional importance in the Kyiv region, but territorially it is located in the Chernihiv region, on the left bank of the Dnipro.

It is unique in its variety of examples of Soviet residential architecture. Each quarter has a special national flavor, as builders from eight union republics took part in the construction: Ukraine, Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia. It has a modern infrastructure. After the closure of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant in 2000, a slow stagnation began.
