Vilshanka

The urban-type village of Vilshanka on the Sinyukha River is located 20 kilometers north of Pervomaisk. Administratively, it is part of the Holovanivsk district of the Kirovohrad region.

The village was founded in the 18th century by the Zaporizhzhians led by the Cossack Maslov, so it was originally called Maslovo.

In 1774, about 400 families of Danube Bulgarians, who took part in the Russian-Turkish war of 1768-1774 on the side of Russia, settled here (a memorial stele was installed). In the same year, the church of Saint John the Merciful was consecrated and the village was named Vilshanka.

In the 19th century, Vilshanka received the status of a military settlement, the headquarters of the 4th Ulan Ovidiopol Regiment was located here. In 1857, the village became the center of the parish.

The Horse Regiment of the Black Zaporizhzhians of the UNR Army stopped in Vilshanka during the Winter Campaign. During the Holodomor organized by the Soviet authorities in 1932-1933, at least 43 residents of the village died.

There is a sports base for rowing kayaks and canoes in Vilshanka, and a tourist route "Pearls of Sinyukha River" has been laid along the river coast. There are several hotel and entertainment complexes in the village.

У 1774 році тут оселилися близько 400 сімей придунайських болгар, які брали участь у російсько-турецькій війні 1768-1774 років на боці росії (встановлено пам'ятну стелу). Того ж року було освячено храм святого Іоана Милостивого і село отримало назву Вільшанка.

У XIX столітті Вільшанка отримала статус військового поселення, тут розміщувався штаб 4-го Уланського Овідіопольського полку. В 1857 році село стало волосним центром.

У Вільшанці діє спортивна база з веслування на байдарках та каное, по прибережжю річки прокладено туристичний маршрут "Перлини Синюхи". У селищі є кілька готельно-розважальних комплексів.
