Zazymya

The village of Zazymya on the left bank of the Desna is located on the northeastern outskirts of Kyiv.

It was founded by Prince Vsevolod Horodetsky in 1128, although the first settlement appeared probably as early as the 10th century (a popular legend says that the Nightingale the robber lived here).

The settlement was located on an island formed by two branches of the Desna. In the southern part, there was a prince's nursery with a terem and a wooden temple, which served as the prince's winter residence, hence the name.

After the Tatar-Mongol invasion, Zazymya was mentioned again in the 15th century, when Prince Dmytro Sokyra restored the wooden temple, but it was soon destroyed again by the Tatars. In the 16th century the village was rebuilt, and in 1630 it b ...

Поселення знаходилося на острові, утвореному двома рукавами Десни. У південній частині знаходився княжий дитинець з теремом і дерев'яним храмом, що служив зимовою резиденцією князя, звідки пішла назва.

Після татаро-монгольської навали Зазим'я знову згадується в XV столітті, коли князь Дмитро Сокира відновив дерев'яний храм, проте незабаром його знову розорили татари. У XVI ст. село було відбудовано наново, а в 1630 році перейшло у власність Софіївського монастиря.
