Dorohobuzh

The ancient Volyn village of Dorohobuzh in the valley of the Horyn River is located 10 kilometers west of Hoshcha, next to the M-06 (E-40) highway "Kyiv - Chop".

It was first mentioned in 1084 as a private city of Prince Davyd Ihorevych, grandson of Yaroslav the Wise. For some time it was the capital of the Dorohobuzh principality.

The Dorohobuzh hillfort of the 11th-13th centuries has been preserved.

The Orthodox Assumption Monastery has existed near it since the 11th century. The Church of the Assumption was built on the basis of the monastery church in 1577-1582, which has survived to this day.

Until the middle of the 20th century, the remains of a Polish fortress with a large round defensive tower were preserved on the ramparts of the ancient Rus settlement, of which not a trace remains.
