General information about Saints Apostles Peter and Paul Church (Vyzhnytsia)
The Church of the Saints Apostles Peter and Paul in Vyzhnytsia was built in 1876 on the site of an old wooden church founded in 1812 by Polish immigrants.
The new stone church was built at the expense of the tycoon of Armenian origin Hryhoriy Ayvas.
In 1930, the wedding ceremony of Yuriy Fedkovych's parents took place in the Peter and Paul Church - the noblewoman Anna Dashkevycheva and the famous German climatologist Adalbert Hordynskyi-Fedkovych.
In 1946, after the arrival of Soviet power, the Peter and Paul Church was closed.
In the early 1990s, after Ukraine gained independence, the church was returned to the Roman Catholic community of Vyzhnytsia.
Костел Святих Апостолів Петра і Павла у Вижниці збудований у 1876 році на місці старого дерев'яного храму, заснованого в 1812 році польськими переселенцями.
Новий кам'яний костел споруджено коштом магната вірменського походження Григорія Айваса.
В 1930 році в костелі Петра і Павла відбулося вінчання батьків Юрія Федьковича – шляхтички Анни Дашкевичевої та відомого німецького кліматолога Адальберта Гординського-Федьковича.
У 1946 році, після приходу радянської влади, Петропавлівський костел був закритий.
На початку 1990-х років, із здобуттям Україною Незалежності, костел був повернутий римо-католицькій громаді Вижниці.
