Mizoch

The large village of Mizoch on the Stubelka River is located 20 km northwest of Zdolbuniv, between Ostroh and Dubno, away from the main transport routes.

It has been known since 1322 from the deed of Prince Lubart as the property of the Lutsk bishopric. According to legend, it is named after the founder of the settlement - the Jew Mizoch, who opened an inn halfway from Ostroh to Dubno.

Since the end of the 16th century, Mizoch belonged to Prince Yanush Ostrozkyi. It was destroyed during the Liberation War. In 1720, it became the property of the Karvytskyi magnate family, to which it belonged before the arrival of the Bolsheviks. In 1761, the Polish king August III granted Yuzef Kayetan Dunin-Karvytskyi privileges to found the city of Velykyi Mizoch and granted him Magdeburg law. Thanks to the Karvytskyis, a beautiful park (the ruins of the greenhouse) and a large pond were created in Mizoch on 15 hectares according to the project of the park developer Dionysius Mickler (Mackler).

The church of Saint John Nepomuk, built in 1795 at the expense of Kshyshtof Dunin-Karvytskyi, has also been preserved. A sugar factory has been operating since 1875, which has now been converted to starch production.
