National Nature Park "Zalissya"

Reserve

National Nature Park "Zalissya" offers visitors outdoor recreation, wildlife observation, cycling routes, horseback riding and other activities in a pine-oak forest near Kyiv, 40 kilometers from the center of the capital along the Chernihiv highway.

This protected area on the left bank of the Desna River covers an area of 14,836 hectares. Most of it, fenced off, is one giant enclosure, where about 1,500 deer live in semi-free conditions, as well as hundreds of fallow deer, roe deer, elk, wild boars, hares, etc.

The park was created in 1957 as Zalissya State Forestry and Hunting Farm to organize recreation and hunting entertainment for senior state officials and official delegations of foreign countries. Soviet general secretaries Mykyta Khrushchov and Leonid Brezhnyev, as well as the secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine Volodymyr Shcherbytsky, had their country residences here. Their houses are located in the closed part of the national park, which is still one of the presidential residences as part of the State Administration of Affairs.

Since 2014, the main territory of the Zalissya National Park has been open to all visitors. Tourist routes and eco-trails for hiking, cycling and car tourism have been laid across its territory. There is an opportunity to visit the Museum of Nature, see the Big and Small Lakes, visit the stables with thoroughbred horses, etc.

But the main attraction of the park is the opportunity to see large herds of wild animals up close. The best conditions for this are in winter, when the animals approach the feeders located along the roads, and the green mass of the undergrowth does not interfere with observations.

The Zalissya National Nature Park remains a restricted object, so visiting it must be agreed with the administration in advance. You can only move around the territory accompanied by a gamekeeper. Visiting the closed territory of the residence is possible only by organized groups according to previously agreed lists.

In 2013, a memorial plaque was solemnly installed on the wall of the church commemorating the historical event that took place in Hnativka on February 9, 1918. On this day, in Hnativka, under the leadership of Acting Minister of War Oleksandr Zhukivskyi, the re-formation of all existing troops into the Separate Zaporizhzhia Detachment took place - this is how the first regular armed formation of the Ukrainian People's Republic was formed.

The wooden church of the Nativity of the Holy Virgin in Peremoha (Yadlivka) was built in 1892 with donations from local residents.

Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Monastery in the Tserkovshchyna tract

Temple , Architecture

The Men's Monastery of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a lonely monastery in the Tserkovshchyna tract (Khutir Vilniy) at the exit from Kyiv on the Novoobukhivsky highway.

The emergence in the 11th century is associated with the name of one of the founders of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Reverend Feodosius Pecherskyi, who secretly secluded himself here in the Hnyletskyi caves during Great Lent. Later, the Immaculate Hnyletsky Monastery with an underground church was founded in the caves, which was destroyed in the XIII-XV centuries.

In toponymy, the names have been preserved: the Tserkovshchyna tract and the Khodosivka village - distorted Feodosiivka.

The caves were reopened by Saint Innocent only in the 19th century, and in 1902, the Nativity of the Virgin Monastery was founded near the caves, which was named the "Hermitage Immaculate".

In Soviet times, a colony for minors, a camp for prisoners of war, then a hospital, a sanatorium of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (it still operates) were located here. One of the temples was destroyed, an assembly hall was arranged in the premises of the other.

Divine service in the Church was restored in 1999 under the auspices of the Holosiivsky Hermitage, and the Saint Nicholas Church was restored. Monks conduct tours to the caves.
