Palace / manor , Architecture
The estate of the Myezentsev family in Zviahel is located on the right bank of the Sluch River, opposite the ruins of the Zviahel fortress.
In 1865, the Myezentsevs became owners of Novy Zviahel, which was then a suburb of Zviahel. At the end of the 19th century, colonel Serhiy Myezentsev began the reconstruction of the manor, which previously belonged to the Lubomyrskyi princes, then to the Uvarovs. The construction was completed in 1903 by the colonel's son Boris Myezentsev. Perhaps the architect was Oleksandr Palshau.
The palace was built in the then fashionable historicism style, representing an eclectic mix of Renaissance, Baroque and Classicism forms. In the stylized form of the building with two towers, the image of the palace of the medieval castle is romantically interpreted. The layout of the main forms of the palace coincides with the outline of the north-eastern wall of the Zviahel castle.
A large arboretum was laid by the Uvarovs at the beginning of the 19th century.
In the 1920s, the Myezentsev palace housed an agricultural technical school. Then the manor passed into the hands of the military, the fortifications of the "Stalin Line" were placed on the territory of the park. Currently, it is the headquarters of the 30th separate mechanized brigade. Access to the territory is closed.

Temple
The Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ, which is also called the Saint Olha's Church, rises above the Uzh River on the outskirts of "Drevlyanskyi Park" in Korosten.
The name is connected with the legend of how Princess Olha, who burned Iskorosten in revenge for the death of her husband, repented of what she had done and, after accepting Christianity, built a temple on the burnt area, where she came to pray for her sins.
The parish of Saint Olha was founded in Korosten in 1990.

The complex of buildings of the 19th century post office in Zhytomyr includes the main building, a hotel wing and a stable, surrounded by a fence. Taras Shevchenko stayed here in 1846.
Regular postal service between St. Petersburg, Kyiv and Radyvilov began to be established after the royal decree of 1827. In the 1840s, several postal stations were built on the route between Kyiv and Zhytomyr at a distance of about 20 kilometers from each other (several of them have survived).
All of them were built according to a typical project, the characteristic feature of which are the arrow windows in the Neo-Gothic style.

Castle / fortress
Fragments of the fortress walls and the reconstructed defense tower of the Zviahel fortress are located on the high bank of the Sluch River in the very center of the city.
The construction of the castle was started in the 16th century by Prince Kostyantyn Ostrozky on the eastern borders of his Volyn domains. In 1600, a church was built nearby (now the Palace of Culture named after Lesya Ukrayinka is in its place). The castle was destroyed in 1648 during the Liberation War of the Ukrainian people.
During Soviet times, the territory of the castle was turned into a recreation area, the reconstructed fragments of defensive structures have nothing to do with the original. The foundations of the preserved walls can be seen from the river side.

The Catholic Church of Saint Barbara was built in Berdychiv in 1826 according to the project of the architect Antoniy Prushynskyi on the site of the old wooden church built by the Radzyvill princes in 1759.
In 1850, the famous French writer Onore de Balzak married Evelina Hanska, Countess of Verkhivnya, in the church of Saint Barbara (a memorial plaque is installed on the facade).
In addition, the church of Saint Barbara is known for the fact that in 1824-1825, while staying at the court of the Radzivill princes, the young Fryderyk Shopen played and learned to play stringed instruments in the church from Professor Zhyvniy.
Next to the church is the grotto of the Virgin Mary.
In Soviet times, the church premises were used as a gym.
Now the temple is active.

A beautiful neo-Renaissance manor house with Gothic elements in Turchynivka belonged to the Tereshchenko family of rich sugar millers and patrons.
The construction was started in 1899 by Fedir Tereshchenko, as the date on the facade reminds us. The construction was completed in 1901 by Nataliya, the daughter of a sugar factory, who married Count Serhiy Uvarov, a leader of the Berdychiv County nobility.
The building is made of terracotta bricks, almost all decorative elements are also brick. The facade is decorated with the coat of arms of the Uvarov family with the letter U. The interiors are decorated with moldings.
The palace is located in an old park on the bank of a pond (XIX century), which remained from the previous owners of the estate. Nearby is a utility building with an elegant tower.

The half-ruined cell building of the Jesuit monastery is the oldest architectural monument of Zhytomyr.
The monastery on Castle Hill was built in the 18th century by Jesuit monks, who were invited to the city by the castellan of Kyiv, Yan Kazymyr Stetskyi. Possible architects include Pavlo Hizhytskyi, Paolo Fontana, Domeniko Fontana.
A three-class school operated at the monastery. The Polish king Avhust II, by his privilege, transferred the adjacent lands under the jurisdiction of the monastery, excluding the Jesuit Jurisdiction, a kind of "city within a city", from the control of the city self-government.
The Jesuit church was destroyed by Russian hussars and Don Cossacks in 1769. From the entire monastery complex, only the ruins of the two-story cell building have survived to this day. Restoration is planned.

For many years, the enterprise "Korosten Porcelain Factory" was one of the largest manufacturers of porcelain tableware in Ukraine.
The Korosten Porcelain Factory was founded in 1904 by the Polish entrepreneur Tymofiy Przhybylskyi. During the Second World War, the plant was destroyed, it was put into operation again in 1944.
